Manufactured by Esso, the European arm of Standard Oil, this EssoLube bottle set is a wonderful example of early reusable garage equipment.
Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, these bottles were used by mechanics to dispense oil directly from bulk drums, reflecting the practical design and brand pride of Esso’s mid-century operations. Each bottle’s embossed lettering served both a functional and promotional purpose, representing the reliability and innovation Esso became known for.
This set is in good vintage condition for its age. It includes seven of the original glass bottles, with one bottle showing a small chip around the top—a common sign of authentic use. The remaining bottles are intact and display lovely patina and light residue consistent with workshop life. The metal crate retains its original EssoLube embossing and shows surface wear and ageing typical of period service station equipment. Together, they make a visually striking and genuinely characterful display piece.
Highly collectible among automobilia and petroliana enthusiasts
